Gaza For the Record | A Democratic Party Genocide | The Groaning Dissent Channel | Trump’s ultimate legacy?

I call on incoming president Donald Trump – as a matter of form (I have no illusions about this) – to charge the Democratic Party of America with genocide under US laws and seek to dismantle it.

For the record, irrespective of the official body count going on in Gaza, the British medical journal, the Lancet, reports that ‘it is not implausible to estimate that up to 186 000 or even more deaths could be attributable to the current conflict in Gaza.’ The wounded, disabled, and maimed are much more, while the long term health effects on the population of 2,500,000 people are incalculable.

Amnesty International was the first organisation to analyse the situation in Gaza and call it a “genocide,” on the terms understood in the Genocide Convention of 1948. Human Rights Watch followed suit. Medicins Sans Frontieres wrote in a report : ‘What our medical teams have witnessed on the ground throughout this conflict is consistent with the descriptions provided by an increasing number of legal experts and organisations concluding that genocide is taking place in Gaza.

Waiting for the International Court of Justice to rule on case 192, initially raised against Israel by South Africa and joined by a number of other nations, United Nations Rapporteur, Francesca Albanese lodged her reportSituation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967”, citing the detailed evidence for defining what is going on in Palestine, not just in Gaza, but in the Occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, especially in its prisons, where Palestinians are being beaten to death, as genocide.

Mike Casey is the latest in a long list of staff members of the State Department under Secretary of State Blinken to resign his job, stating that he was ‘tired of writing about dead kids.’ The Dissent Channel, which is a site provided to State Department staff to post complaints, is groaning with ‘an unprecedented flood of internal dissent memos over Gaza war.’

One of the earliest people to resign was weapons expert Josh Paul, who accused his boss, Tony Blinken of waving through weapons supplies to Israel blindly, without due process.

Although Benjamin Netanyahu and his cabinet were directly responsible for this genocide, it was proactively aided and abetted by Tony Blinken, Joe Biden, Jake Sullivan, Lloyd Austin and all those who remained in the Democratic Biden administration in the last year and a half without resigning.

The Democratic Party of America needs to be dissolved. It isn’t just about this genocide. The genocide is a symptom of a deeply corrupt and dysfunctional regime. The reconstitution of the Democratic Party by Bill Clinton’s New Democrats in the 1990s created the modern world – the new military-industrial complex, NATO expansion, American poverty, plutocracy on steroids and financialization. It would be nice to think that the Republican Party could come in to reform this Democratic universe.

However, Republicans have been shaped by it as everything else has in the United States. And unfortunately, even as we start a new administration, it doesn’t look like Trump will be an exception. Potentially pulling back from the pointless military confrontation that the Democrats revved up in Ukraine, in the Middle East, and in the Pacific is one thing. But Trump is coming into power on what looks like a programme of deregulation and superfinancialization that – if not checked – will ultimately lead to a cataclysmic financial crash. I will briefly say why in the video that accompanies this article and the next. This subject will be dealt with more fully in later articles.
